Bowers Residences – 55 W Utopia Ave

Colloquially known as South Salt Lake’s “Garage Mahal,” Bowers Residences is a 236-unit mixed-use development on Utopia Avenue, just off West Temple.
The building offers studios, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, with amenities that include a gym, outdoor pool, and close proximity to Winco and the S-Line streetcar.
The structured parking garage, occupying about half of the development, is shared with nearby properties, including the office building directly to the east.
Empty storefronts signal South Salt Lake’s ongoing struggle to lease ground-floor retail space. Recently, we reported that the city is considering loosening restrictions on off-premise alcohol sales to attract more commercial tenants.
South Salt Lake S-Line Stop – Central Pointe Place

Building Salt Lake first reported in March that Blaser Ventures was exploring the purchase of land originally designated for a Porsche dealership. After Porsche chose Millcreek over South Salt Lake, Blaser Ventures finalized a deal with the city and is now planning a mixed-use development on the site.
Blaser Ventures, a Building Salt Lake advertiser, is well-known locally for projects like the Post District, Silos, and the upcoming Granary Square in Salt Lake City.
The company plans to develop up to 500 housing units on the site, targeting prices below 80 percent of the area’s median income for the residential units, alongside ample retail space.
Founder and President Brandon Blaser said he will apply a local-first approach to leasing retail spaces, aiming to offer commercial leases below market rates. The project is slated for completion in 2027.
One Burton – 2360 S Main St

One Burton, a project designed by Architectural Nexus, began construction in 2022 and is aiming for completion this year, though delays may extend the opening to 2025. The project includes 180 apartment homes, made up of 27 studios, 103 one-bedroom units, and 50 two-bedroom units.
The building’s most unique feature is its south side, which integrates an existing YESCO dual electronic billboard. Jacobsen Construction is the general contractor for the project.
In-N-Out Burger – 2100 S Main Street

Once destined for Salt Lake City, California-based In-N-Out Burger has settled across the street on the southeast corner of 2100 South and Main Street in South Salt Lake.
Famous for its inexpensive burgers and long drive-thru lines, the chain has come to fruition quickly. We first reported on the South Salt Lake location about a year ago.
The addition of In-N-Out, along with the recently opened Chipotle and Raising Canes drive-thru locations, underscores the city’s relentless push for sales tax revenue, despite clashing with its plans for an urban core.
