Southwest of Downtown Salt Lake City, former industrial blocks are transforming into places people can live, work, and play. Despite major challenges like 10-acre blocks, hostile streets, and lack of infrastructure, formerly scattered developments are starting to knit themselves together.
Let’s take a look at what’s happening between 500 South and 800 South, west of 300 West to Interstate-15. As the award-winning Post District moves west and south, it’s starting to look less isolated from the Rio Grande District to the north, and the Granary District to the south.

Silo Park, a multi-phase mixed-use development by Lowe Property Group, BCG Holdings and Catalyst Opportunity Funds is well underway. The project is similar to the Post District, which is located on the block east of Silo Park. Both developments are hemmed in by 500 and 600 South, roads the City would eventually like to convert to Grand Boulevards, assuming they can get UDOT’s blessing.

We reported in May that the Pickle building underwent demolition. The building was determined to be too structurally unsound to preserve in its former state. In total, project is projected to bring 141 apartments to the future TRAX corridor along 400 West.
